Stampen Media Named INMA Awards Finalist – E-paper Driving Engagement and Revenue
Stampen Media in Gothenburg has been named a finalist in the International News Media Association (INMA) Awards for its work on “The Edition Reborn” – an initiative redefining the role of the e-paper in a modern digital publishing environment.
The initiative is rooted in a challenge many media companies face today. As more titles move away from print, a gap emerges. Readers still value the curated, cohesive reading experience of a traditional newspaper, but the classic e-paper format has not been adapted to how people actually read on mobile devices and tablets.

Together with Stampen Media, we at Prenly have taken a holistic approach to the e-paper product — from reading experience and typography to how content is packaged and published in a digital context. The goal has been to create an experience that combines the best of traditional newspapers with the advantages of digital publishing.

The new e-paper product is optimized for screens, offering improved readability, clearer structure, and a calmer, more focused news flow.

Results in both user behavior and business performance:

  • Up to 43% increase in reading time
  • 74% of print subscribers transitioned to the e-paper
  • New revenue opportunities through thematic editions and new advertisers

When one of Stampen’s titles, Bohusläningen, transitioned to a fully digital publication model, a large majority of subscribers chose to stay via the e-paper format — demonstrating the strength of the digital reading experience.

A key part of the initiative is “Every Day”, a daily e-paper that strengthens reading habits and drives recurring usage. Today, it is published across 13 of Stampen’s 18 titles and includes recurring content such as weather, crosswords, historical events, and TV listings. By complementing regular news publishing, the format helps create a more continuous relationship with readers.

Being named a finalist in the INMA Awards is a strong validation of the innovation and work behind this initiative.

For Prenly, this case clearly demonstrates how the e-paper can play a central role in a modern digital strategy. It shows that the e-paper is not just a legacy from print, but an active product for driving engagement, building loyalty, and unlocking new revenue streams in a fully digital business model.

With “The Edition Reborn”, Stampen Media proves that it is possible to combine editorial excellence with digital innovation — creating a sustainable model for the future of journalism.

Congratulations to the entire team at Stampen Media on becoming INMA Awards finalists!
